Today I am leaving for Santiago, Chile. After spending some time in Managua, I am now preparing to board a ship to Chile. Santiago is greatly affected by the westerlies and in the coastal regions many cacti survive in the deserts. I plan to experience many interesting traditions and cultural aspects. I have already heard that the food is amazing. For example, lomo a la pobre known as “poor man’s steak” is a dish that includes fries, as well as steak with fried eggs served on top. In Chile etiquette is valued greatly. Hopefully my time there will help strengthen my own manners. I have planned my journey for this time for a certain reason. I am going to Chile in the spring in order to attend the interesting and entertaining Festival of Domingo de Cuasimodo. I hope I still remember how to ride a horse, because horseback riding is a popular sport in Chile. Anyway, my the ship is now boarding, so I better get ready to go. I cannot wait until I arrive in Chile and begin a new segment of my adventure.
